Did you miss lesson #1? If so, go here now

AWESOME!
You made it to the next step!!
Before we move forward… Let’s remind ourselves of the 5 Pillars in Measurement Marketing. They are…

  • Planning – (What numbers you should track)
  • Building – (How can you track those numbers)
  • Reporting– (How your business is currently doing – based on those numbers)
  • Forecasting – (What is your benchmark numbers)
  • Optimizing – (How can you grow those numbers)

In the last lesson, we talked about Pillar #1. Today, we’re going to discuss…

PILLAR #2: BUILDING (How To Track Those Numbers)

So you’ve got your plan… You know what numbers you want to look at and where to find those answers. The question is…

How do you track those numbers?

Before, in order to track your numbers, you must know how to write codes like a web developer. And writing codes can be messy if you don’t know what you’re doing.

The good news is…

So you’ve got your plan…

You know what numbers you want to look at and where to find those answers. The question is…

How do you track those numbers?

Before, in order to track your numbers, you must know how to write codes like a web developer. And writing codes can be messy if you don’t know what you’re doing.

The good news is…

Because of our technology today…

You can bypass hiring a web developer or learning the hardcore codes all by yourself. Just take a look at your Email Marketing dashboard (whether it’s from Infusionsoft, Hubspot, Ontraport, Getresponse, Mailchimp, Aweber, etc…) You don’t have to set up anything to track your email campaigns because it’s already there.

Most email marketing provider has its own tracking tool and all you have to do is to look at your numbers.

But…

When it comes to tracking your sales funnel (whether it’s Clickfunnels or WordPress)…

You have to have to setup your own tracking tools.

But…

When it comes to tracking your sales funnel (whether it’s Clickfunnels or WordPress)…

You have to have to setup your own tracking tools.

In order to get the most reliable information about your business, you have to setup your tracking tools properly.

The reason is because you don’t want to get a bunch of information that doesn’t really matter. Have you ever checked your Google Analytics dashboard wherein you see a scrambled mass of numbers that don’t actually tell you anything.

Like sure, you saw your average bounce rate is 58.16%…

But what does that mean? Is it accurate?

And most importantly…

What are you supposed to DO about it? I mean, what you need are actionable insights that helps you make smart marketing decisions to optimize your results.

Right?

That’s where Measurement Marketing comes in.

When you learn the whole system that I’m about to share with you, you’ll get meaningful information that gives you clarity on what should you do next in your marketing.

PLUS…

With some guidance and advance learning…

You can track your own business AUTOMATICALLY!

When you apply Measurement Marketing to your business correctly, you can instantly see what’s working and what’s not just by looking at your dashboard.

It’s like looking at the bottom right of your laptop where you can easily see if your battery is full or not so you can get your charger and plug it if needed.

Imagine the ease of making decisions if you can see exactly how your business is doing.

Imagine how fast can you take action if you have that kind of dashboard that shows you valuable information.

Sp – how do you build this Measurement Marketing system?

3 Tools You Need To Build An Automated Measurement Marketing Machine

There are 3 tools you can use to start building a measurement marketing machine. All of them are free (thanks to Google!) and so simple to use especially if you have at least 30 min a day to learn about it (will get into details later…)

Anyways…The first thing you need to create a Measurement Marketing Machine is…

1. Tag Management Tool

In order to have a powerful dashboard, you need to make sure you’re getting the right numbers.

As I’ve mentioned before, we just don’t want to collect a bunch of data that isn’t necessary for our progress. What we want are information that will show you if you’re heading the right direction or not.

That’s why it’s very important to have a tag management system. Our recommended tag management tool is… Google Tag Manager.

It’s a powerful tool from Google where you can track specific events like page views, PDF downloads, and the clicks on your call-to-action button using tags.

Tags are snippet of codes which are added to a site to collect information and send it to third parties.

Again, this is not sexy…

But if you know how to use WordPress, you can use this too! In fact, by the end of this series, I’ll show you how you can fast track your learning about Google Tag manager.

For now, let’s move forward to the next tool you need which is…

2. Web Analytics tool

Of course, gathering the numbers from your website is not enough, you have to store it somewhere to analyze those information so you can take the right action.

This is what Google Analytics is all about.

It shows answers to questions like…

  • How many people click your ads?
  • How many people visits your website?
  • Where does your users live?
  • What are they doing in your website?
  • How many visitors convert into sales?
  • And even how much your advertising ROI is?

Now just to remind you…

Even though it’s very easy and simple to install Google Analytics to your website…

You have to set it up PROPERLY to get the numbers you need. It’s not wise if you just plug and play without telling Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager what you want to see in your dashboard.

That’s why I keep on emphasizing the importance of setting up these tools properly because it’s very important.

Now, for the next tool (which leads us to the next pillar as well…)

PILLAR # 3: Reporting

(How Your Business Is Currently Doing – Based On Your Numbers)

If you have a tagging tool to collect the right data into your analyics tool, the next thing you need is a…

3. Visualization tool

consuming process.

Where do you start?

What are the metrics that matter?

And how can you display them in an engaging but readable way? Not only for you, but for everyone across the business, including the board.

And that’s where Google Data Studio comes in.

Google Data Studio is a free data visualisation tool that turns your raw data into fully customisable, always accessible, visual reports.

Here’s a sample of Google Data Studio report from our Measurement Marketing Academy Funnel…

If You Want To Measure Your Way To Success… LEARN How To Use Google’s Tracking Tools!

I mean, if you put all of the tools mentioned together…

Google Tag Manager + Google Analytics + Google Data Studio…

You’ll have a tracking system that helps you boost your growth! Just imagine…

When you run an ad for $100 yesterday, you can ask today… “What’s my return?”…

BOOM!

You can instantly see how much money you make in your Google Data Studio.

When you want to learn how your new sales funnel is doing, just look at your Google Data Studio dashboard, and POOF! You’ll see every detail from how many people opt-in to people who purchase your offer!

You can even see where they’re coming from if you want to. My point is…

If you want to optimize your results and scale your business, invest in yourself and learn how to setup these tools properly.

Let’s talk about how can you fast track that learning in the next lesson.

For now, let’s take a look at what we’ve covered so far:

  • We talked about Pillar #2 which is the BUILDING part.
  • This is where you discover what it takes to do the right setup to get the right numbers… especially when tracking your sales funnel.
    So that…
  • When you do the REPORTING (Pillar #3), you’re seeing numbers you can trust.
  • And The 3 tools you do need to get started.
Google Tag Manager Google Analytics Google Data Studio

That’s really all there is for BUILDING and REPORTING. And you’re doing great!

Now for the FUN part…

Let’s talk about how can you take your business from where you are right now… to where you want to be.
